Your wedding photographer is one of the few suppliers whose work you’ll look at for the rest of your life. The flowers wilt and the cake gets eaten, but the wedding photos stay. Dubai has hundreds of photographers, and many of their Instagram feeds look alike. This is a practical checklist for how to choose the right wedding photographer in Dubai in 2026, whether you marry in the city or plan a destination wedding.

Step 1: Decide on the style you like

Before you look at prices, look at photos and notice what you love. Wedding photography styles roughly fall into:

  • Documentary or candid photography: candid moments as they happen, minimal posing.
  • Traditional: more posed portraits and formal groups.
  • Fine art or editorial: styled, magazine-like images with strong direction.

Most photographers mix these, but each has a leaning. Also look at editing: bright and airy, dark and moody, or natural colour. Trendy filters date quickly; natural colour tends to age well.

Step 2: Look at full wedding galleries

Anyone can post 20 great photos. Ask every photographer on your shortlist for one or two complete wedding galleries. A full gallery shows how they handle a dim ballroom, harsh sun, a rushed family photo session and the dance floor at midnight. If they won’t share one, that tells you something. Check Google reviews too, and read what real couples say about the day itself.

Step 3: Ask these 10 questions

  1. Is my date available, and will you personally photograph our wedding?
  2. How many photographers will attend, and do we need a second shooter?
  3. Have you photographed weddings at our venue, or similar venues?
  4. Are you familiar with our traditions? For example, a nikah, zaffa, mehndi, church ceremony or separate men’s and women’s celebrations.
  5. How many edited photos will we receive, and when?
  6. How do you deliver the photos, and how long do you keep a backup?
  7. What happens if you’re ill on the day?
  8. Do you offer videography too, or can you work alongside our videographer?
  9. What’s included in the price, and what costs extra (travel, albums, overtime)?
  10. What are the deposit, payment and cancellation terms?

Step 4: Check the contract

A professional wedding photographer in Dubai will give you a written contract. It should state the date, hours of coverage, number of photographers, deliverables, delivery dates, price, payment schedule, cancellation terms and what happens in an emergency. Don’t book anyone on a WhatsApp message alone.

Step 5: Have a call

You’ll spend more time with your photographer on the day than with almost anyone else. A short video call tells you whether you’ll feel relaxed around them. If they listen, ask about your plans and suggest ideas, that’s a good sign.

Photography, videography or both?

Many couples book a photographer and a videographer from the same team, because the two work around each other and the schedule stays smooth. If you book separately, ask both to share the timeline. Wedding videography in Dubai is a good way to keep the vows, the speeches and the music. See our wedding photography page and the sample wedding film below.

Pre-wedding shoot and venue ideas

A pre-wedding shoot is a relaxed way to meet your photographer before the big day. Popular backdrops include the Palm Jumeirah, the Marina, Jumeirah beach and the desert. Read our pre-wedding photoshoot in Dubai guide.

Red flags to watch for

  • No full galleries, only highlights
  • Prices far below the market with vague deliverables
  • No contract or no backup equipment
  • Pressure to pay the full amount immediately
  • Portfolio images that look very different from one another, which can mean borrowed photos

When to book a wedding photographer in Dubai

For weddings in peak season, October to April, start looking six to twelve months ahead. Popular weekend dates go first. Summer weddings are easier to book at shorter notice.

Budget

Price depends on hours, the number of photographers, video and extras. Read our photoshoot price guide for Dubai to understand what changes the cost, and see what’s included in our wedding photography.
