In Dubai, timing makes or breaks an outdoor shoot more than almost anywhere else. The same beach can give you soft, glowing portraits at 6am and squinting, sweaty faces at noon. Here’s how to pick the best time for a photoshoot in Dubai in 2026, by season and by hour, so your photographer and your booking date work with the light.

The best months: October to April
From roughly late October to early April, Dubai is warm rather than hot. You can stay outdoors for an hour or two in comfort, the desert dunes are pleasant, and the sky is often clearer. This is peak season for weddings, family sessions, fashion shoots and flying dress photoshoots, so popular dates book up early.
- November to February: the most comfortable months. Ideal for desert, beach and long sessions.
- October and March to April: still very good, with warmer middays.
- Dubai Miracle Garden and outdoor markets open only in this season, which adds location options for visitors to Dubai.

Summer: May to September
Summer is hot and humid, often over 40 degrees C, and the air can be hazy. Outdoor shoots are still possible if you plan around it:
- Book a sunrise session. The first hour after sunrise is the coolest and the light is soft.
- Keep outdoor time short, around 45 minutes, and bring water.
- Move indoors: a studio, a hotel, your home or a covered location. In-home family shoots work especially well in summer.
- Camera lenses fog when you step from air conditioning into humidity. A good photographer lets the gear warm up first.
The best time of day: golden hour
Golden hour, the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset, gives warm, soft, flattering light. Faces glow, shadows are gentle and nobody squints. In Dubai, sunrise falls roughly between 5:30 and 7:00 and sunset between 17:30 and 19:15, depending on the month, so check the exact time for your date. Late afternoon light is the one most clients choose, because it is easy to fit around work and school.
- Sunrise: fewer people at popular spots like Downtown and Al Fahidi, cooler temperatures, clear air. Great if you don’t mind an early start. Desert at sunrise is quiet and the dunes show every ripple.
- Sunset: warmer colours, a relaxed feel, and the option to continue into blue hour when the city lights come on. Expect more crowds. Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah beaches glow at this hour.
- Blue hour: the 20 to 30 minutes after sunset, perfect for skyline, waterfront and Marina shots.
- Midday: harsh light and heat. Use it only for indoor or studio shoots.

Best time to shoot by location
- Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah: after sunset, when the towers reflect in the water.
- Dubai Creek Harbour: sunset, with the Downtown skyline across the water.
- Old Dubai, Al Fahidi and Al Seef: early morning for quiet lanes, evening for lantern light.
- Madinat Jumeirah: late afternoon, when the canals and wind towers catch warm light.
- Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain: sunrise for empty walkways.
See all of them in our guide to the best photoshoot locations in Dubai.
Avoiding crowds
Weekends, especially Friday and Saturday evenings, are busiest at the beach, the Marina and Downtown. Weekday mornings are quietest. For iconic spots like the Burj Khalifa or the Dubai Fountain, sunrise is the only time you’ll get clean backgrounds.
Ramadan and public holidays
Photoshoots can go ahead during Ramadan, but be respectful in public: avoid eating or drinking in the open during fasting hours, dress modestly and keep music down. Some locations change opening hours. Holiday periods like Eid and New Year are busy, so book early. More in our photography rules in Dubai guide.
Best time by type of shoot
- Desert: November to March, sunrise or sunset only. See our desert photoshoot guide.
- Beach family session: the last hour before sunset in winter, sunrise in summer.
- Couple or proposal: sunset into blue hour for the skyline. See proposal photographer in Dubai.
- Corporate headshots and product photography: any time; these are done in a studio or office.
- Weddings: peak season is October to April. Summer weddings are mostly indoors.
